Retail In-Store eCoupons Systems and Methods

eCoupon-to-Card
At the 2011 Shopper Marketing Expo hosted at the historic Navy Pier in Chicago, IL, eCoupon providers at the show were all exclusively promoting an eCoupon-to-Card method of providing electronic coupons to consumers.
An eCoupon-to-Card requires the consumer to sign-up to a retailer loyalty card program to take advantage of the coupon. The eCoupon provider uses loyalty card shopping information to determine the best eCoupons to deliver to the consumer.
Once a consumer signs-up to the loyalty card program, electronic coupons are redeemed either by instant cash deduction from the POS (Point-of-Sale) transaction (at the checkout) or as a rebate by giving cash or points after the POS transaction.
eCoupon-to-Consumer
The Trestle Systems POPScanner™ eCoupon-to-Consumer methodology allows delivery of electronic coupons directly to consumers without using a retailer based loyalty system. Electronic coupons are delivered directly to consumers using industry standard mobile smartphone QR code technology. Since no special smartphone application is needed (other than a FREE industry standard QR Code reader - i.e. iPhone 'RedLaser' or Android 'QRDroid'), the consumer is not burdened with complicated smartphone App set-up.
Mobile eCoupon-to-Consumer best fits into the In-Store Manufacturer Coupon model. Using Trestle Systems's POPScanner™ Code on at-shelf point-of-purchase POP signs as a "Coupon Activator", CPG manufacturers can deliver serialized electronic coupons to consumer mobile smartphones to be used immediately at checkout. The eCoupons are presented to the cashier as any typical traditional (paper) coupon using GS1 US barcodes standards.
